Firearms and Weapons Policy

All firearms and/or weapons in the lawful possession of a resident, members of the resident's household, and or residents' guests or visitors must be in accordance and comply with the federal, state, and local laws and requirements regarding the lawful ownership, possession, transportation, and use of firearms and or weapons.

Residents, members of residents' households, and residents' guests or visitors should exercise reasonable care in the storage of loaded or unloaded firearms and weapons, including ammunition.

All loaded firearms must be secure from a child's access or other unauthorized persons.

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use BB or air-operated guns unless they are under the supervision and in the presence of an adult who is acting with the consent of the minor's parent.

Grounds for lease termination and Eviction

  • Unlawful ownership, possession, transportation, or use of a firearm or weapon.
  • Damaging any property through the reckless, careless, or negligent use of a firearm/weapon.
  • Threatening any person on or off NHA property with a firearm or weapon.
  • Shooting, firing, exploding, throwing, or discharging a firearm or weapon on NHA property or within the residence, except when the firearm or weapon is discharged in self-defense.
  • Brandishing or displaying of a firearm or weapon in connection with a verbal or non-verbal threat of bodily harm on or off NHA property without the legal justification that the firearm or weapon was necessary for self-defense.
